Mining is one of the slower skills here on Runex. While there are multiple methods from 1-99, some aimed towards more profit and some more experience per hour, there is only one method that stands out as the absolute fastest all while making profit in the end as well.. and we'll talk about all of these methods below.

Table of Contents:
1.) Picks & Useful Items
2.) Ores & Locations
3.) Profitable Method
4.) Efficient Method
5.) Other Useful Info

1.) Pickaxes & Useful Items
Here on Runex, we only have four important Pickaxes that you can obtain:

2.) Ores & Locations
Alongside the vast amount of useful items Runex has for Mining, we also have a ton of mining locations.
For the purpose of this guide, I will only be displaying the useful ones below.

Spoiler

All four of the mines displayed below can be found by navigating to your spellbook, clicking "Skilling Teleports" and selecting the Mining option.

3.) Profitable Method

The most profitable Mining method from 1-99 is as follows..

Spoiler

PLEASE NOTE: If you are a donator, the ::dzone is much better for EVERY ORE!!

Copper ore/Tin ore 1-15 ~ Copper/Tin Ore
Best found at the Al Kharid Mine on the far Northern side.

Iron ore 15-30 ~ Iron Ore
Best found at the Al Kharid Mine, just south of the Copper/Tin.

MS47Rh3.png 30-55 ~ Coal Ore
Best found at the Dwarven Mine in multiple different locations.

2cFiiCR.png 55-70 ~ Mithril Ore
Best found in the Al Kharid OR the Dwarven Mine.

X8LZ1ts.png 70-85 ~ Adamantite Ore
Best found, in bulk, at the Dwarven Mine near the Iron Ores.

12RtzDy.png 85-99 ~ Runite Ore
Best found in the Cursed Caverns (Mine). Map can be found here.

Entirely depending on your game mode, this method can make you a ton of GP - even post-99.
The real money here is in the Runite Ore from 85-99, which can sell for upwards of 10k GP each.

Normal: ~580 Runite Ore, 5.8M GP
Hard: 9.75k Runite Ore, 9.75M GP
Supreme: ~3.9k Runite Ore, 39M GP
Prime: ~26k Runite Ore, 260M GP

As you can see, the ideal way to make money with this skill is to mine on a Prime account or do a lot of post-99 Mining.

4.) Efficient Method

The most efficient Mining method from 1-99 is as follows..

Spoiler

PLEASE NOTE: If you are a donator, the ::dzone is much better for EVERY ORE (other than Granite)!!

Smithing icon SMITHING Smithing icon

Smithing, used as a productive follow-up to Mining, is a rather fast skill to train - provided you have all of the ores/bars on hand. Smithing is used to craft both armor and weapons using the ores you have obtained via the Mining skill, as well as other miscellaneous things such as crafting Dragonfire Shields.

Table of Contents:
1.) Required & Useful Items
2.) Smelting Ores to Bars
3.) Armor/Weapon Smithing
4.) Efficient Method

1.) Required & Useful Items

Here on Runex, all you need to begin Smithing is a Hammer Hammer and some time.

There are however several different experience bonus items on Runex to capitalize on:

Spoiler

jyqo0cg.png Skiller Tokens

Grants 2x Skilling experience per 10k exp earned

REb5QCi.png Catalyst Tokens

Grants 3x all experience per 5k exp earned

Varrock armour 4 Varrock Armor (1-4)

Grants 5-20% (1-4) all experience gained

Safety gloves Safety Gloves

Grants 2.5% all experience gained

Fighting boots Fighting Boots

Grants 2.5% all experience gained

vqXtwKL.png Skilling Backpack

Grants 5% all experience when worn

YM4FZsc.png Studious Elixir

Grants 25% Skilling experience for 60 minutes

wY3AYb8.png Scholar's Blessing

Doubles the effectiveness of exp Tokens

2.) Smelting Ores to Bars

The first step for Smelting Ores to Bars is obtaining said Ores, which I assume you have done via Mining or the Trading Post.

Spoiler

Second, you will need to find a furnace (East of the bank at ::home, ::dzone) and click on it. This interface should appear:
2b71ec0fa38753bb6b6bfe8272e34e92.png
Under the bars, you will find black and red text. This simply signifies whether or not you have the level(s) to craft said bar.

Bronze bar Bronze: 1x Tin ore Tin Ore, 1x Copper ore Copper Ore
Iron bar Iron: 1x Iron ore Iron Ore (50% chance)
Steel bar Steel: 1x Iron ore Iron Ore, 2x Coal Coal Ore
Gold bar Gold: 1x Gold ore Gold Ore
Mithril bar Mith: 1x Mithril ore Mithril Ore, 4x Coal Coal Ore
Adamantite bar Addy: 1x Adamantite ore Adamantite Ore, 6x Coal Coal Ore
Runite bar Rune: 1x Runite ore Runite Ore, 8x Coal Coal Ore

Each of the above "recipes" will grant you with one Bar of the same name (e.g. 1x Iron Ore, 2x Coal Ore = 1x Steel Bar).

3.) Armor/Weapon Smithing

Armor and/or Weapon Smithing on Runex is quite easily accomplished as well.

Spoiler

Find yourself an Anvil (next to the Furnace at ::home and the ::dzone) and use your newly smelted Bar(s) on it.

fJrVAqk.png

You should see an interface like this. Note, green text means you have the materials to smelt it - red means you do not.

No matter what you smelt, you will get a multiple of the same experience.
The experience rates below are the amount you gain PER BAR used
(e.g. 1 dagger = 1x the exp listed, 1 scimitar = 2x the exp listed)

Spoiler

Bronze bar Bronze
Normal: 1,687.5 exp
Hard: 625 exp
Supreme: 250 exp
Prime: 37.5 exp

Iron bar Iron
Normal: 3,375 exp
Hard: 1,250 exp
Supreme: 500 exp
Prime: 75 exp

Steel bar Steel
Normal: 5,062.5 exp
Hard: 1,875 exp
Supreme: 750 exp
Prime: 112.5 exp

Mithril bar Mith
Normal: 6,750 exp
Hard: 2,500 exp
Supreme: 1,000 exp
Prime: 150 exp

Adamantite bar Addy
Normal: 8,437.5 exp
Hard: 3,125 exp
Supreme: 1,250 exp
Prime: 187.5 exp

Runite bar Rune
Normal: 10,125 exp
Hard: 3,750 exp
Supreme: 1,500 exp
Prime: 225 exp

Shout out to @Ralph for quick maths help ♥

4.) Efficient Method

The most efficient Smithing method from 1-99 is as follows..

Spoiler

The most efficient methods of training Smithing almost always consist of Smithing the highest Platebody you can.
The reason being, the more Bars you use per Smith, the more exp per hour you achieve.

1-18Bronze scimitar Any Bronze item(s)

18-33 ~ Bronze platebody Bronze Platebodies

33-48Iron platebody Iron Platebodies

48-68Steel platebody Steel Platebodies

68-88 Mithril platebody Mithril Platebodies

88-99 ~ Adamant platebody Adamant Platebodies

Nice guide, you are missing the mining hat which is an achievement reward at level 10 mining that boosts your mining experience.
It would be cool to see a list of the achievements for each skill and their rewards and also optimal methods for obtaining the higher end ores or bars such as rogues chest for gold, aviansies for adamant and the mithril/adamant and rune dragons for their respective bars and ores.

One thing I really like is how much you “dumb” it down. What I mean is you explain in detail even about the green highlighted and the red highlighted. Which most people should know but is not in most guides now a day. Good work.

Also is it just me or are some photos a bit blown up and pixelated? 🤔🤔

Thanks for that, I tried to include some small things people may not catch on to.

As for the pictures, I'm trying to figure out what causes that. I can't see it personally, but others do.

I found another rune ore mining spot. There is only one rock though. It is where the Dark Beasts are:

http://prntscr.com/juchyb

I know 'bout this - contemplated adding it, but it's a pretty bad option for lower levels.

Thanks anyway though, man. :^)

Of course man. Even if you added it and put a warning it might be good. Also if people ask about the runite rocks in Wildy that’s out in the open. They aren’t mineable. I tried from all sides and couldn’t mine it. I was 95 mining or so. 🤔
