[December 17th, 2021] Patch Notes (mid-game improvements)

Note from the Developers

This patch was our first step toward increasing the viability of different mid-game content/items (and to hold things over until this year's Winter Event!)

Our aim is bridging the power gap between mid/late game items and end-game BiS items. 
Reaching a certain power level on RX has always relied heavily on a player's RNG, amounted from massive boss KCs and enchantment sacrifices.

In short, while players are on the way to "end-game BiS" we still want there to still be some feeling of progression
(Rather than suddenly feeling stagnant until extreme BiS rares are obtained)

 

Patch Notes

  • Facemask, Nosepeg, Earmuffs, Witchwood, Mirror shield & Leaf-bladed slayer damage boosts have been increased against respective monsters

  • Tome of fire & (i) effects now work with both Iban's blast & Zamorak flames spells

  • Iban's staff (i) deals +5% more damage to undead

  • Phoenix crossbow & 2h crossbow now have 50% chance to heal for 1/6 damage dealt

  • Zanik's crossbow & (i) variant now have 10% chance for a regular hit to be a special attack

  • Cursed cape stats go up by 50% within 30 or deeper wilderness

  • Salve amulets effect changed to deal +10% damage to undead, and the imbued version deals +15%

  • Book of infinity now increases magic spell max hits by +7 when all infinity gear equipped (including blessing)

  • Lunar set now increases magic tokens gained in arena by +1 per piece worn

  • Master wand increases damage dealt to battle mages by 50%

  • Cursed necklace now gives +10% drop rate in cursed cavern

  • Cursed armor full set increases melee pvm attack speed by +1 in wildy

  • Cursed robe full set increases magic pvm attack speed by +1 in wildy

  • Cursed cannon reduces enemy's defenses by 1/10 damage dealt in wildy

  • Cursed blade effect changed to reduce enemy defence by 1/10 damage dealt in wildy

  • Revenant weapons (Craw/Thammaron/Viggora) damage bonus increased from 50% to 75% in wildy

  • Nardah wand now increases magic damage by 10% when the Nardah robe set is equipped

  • Mystic sand pieces increase max hit by +1 for each piece worn, similar to decorative equipment from the achievement shop

  • Eagle cape now increases max hit by +1 when the Ogre bow is equipped

  • Master/Molten/Lava/Frost Chompy hats now increases Dorgeshuun & Zanik's crossbow PvM damage by 15% (7.5% master)

  • Elite void enchantment now has a 100% chance, and costs void top/bottom + 20k rune coins

  • Fighter torso (e) now has a 100% chance, and costs 1x Torso (i) + 5k warrior guild token + 2500 rune coins

  • Master task bottle now has a 100% chance for 8x task bottles

  • Grandmaster task bottle now has a 100% chance for 15x task bottles + 10x master task bottles + 1250 rune coins

  • Cannon set enchant now has a 100% chance for 2x Cannon sets + 100M to become gilded

  • Kurask & kurask variants are now able to drop chaotic mystery boxes & the amulet of fury

  • Experiment no3 is now able to drop noted dragon bones & noted implings

  • Kraken is now able to drop battle robes

  • Cockatrice is now able to drop mith & addy cbows/bolts

  • Wilderness revenants have new dragon items added to their common table & magpies/ninja implings added to uncommon table

  • Lava/Frost dragons are now able to drop rune & dragon crossbows

  • Crazy archaeologist has rune cbow & cannonballs added to common table

  • Magic shortbow & Rune arrows are now possible Kharazi chest loots

  • Black chest at Fiyr shades are now able to give cannon pieces (rare)

  • Improved drop tables tremendously for battle mages at Mage Arena

  • Drastically improved magic token rate bonus (having most in arena) - Now gives +10 guaranteed tokens per kill instead of +3

  • Task master I achievement now additionally gives 2x Point mbox

  • Task master II achievement now additionally gives 1x Slayer urn

  • Task master III achievement now additionally gives 1x Epic bonus chest

  • All pickpocketing npcs coin loots have been buffed massively, and regular loots buffed slightly as well

  • All thieving stalls coin loots have been buffed massively

  • Rogues chest commons have been buffed & rare chance reduced from 1/300 to 1/200

  • Twisted bow formula has been tweaked

    • Previously it gave a custom bonus of +250 magic levels to enemy defences during calculations. This has been lowered to +200 if you are not using a Twisted Pendant.

  • Fixed a bug that scaled magic defence too high in Xeric raids, resulting in insane hits from Twisted bow

  • Increased effect of Elite Dharok's from 2x to 2.5x

  • Increased max hit of Draconic claws to 400

Great update all around mate! great qol for earlier to midgame players without a doubt.

 

Could we perhaps get a list of the ingame npc's that have certain features, such as what counts as "undead"? Feel like that'd be useful. I know we can use osrs wiki for it, but no one knows for sure if thats 100% accurate compared to runex either, plus we have more custom mobs that may or may not count as certain things.

I noticed this was mentioned as well, weird.

OT: I love seeing mid-tier gear having purpose now! Ie; Phoenix cbow, Zanik's, etc. But, I don't understand why some of these enchantments are 100% now? Not to mention you can now make a gilded cannon? Very strange!
