Ryan 873 Posted December 31, 2021 Winter Event 2021 You guys asked, and we listened. We've gone back to the original format of F2P mobs, but added more layers of progression than ever before! There are two different types of mob hunting during this event: Imp hunting and Snowmen hunting Imp Hunting Those of you who played RuneX during Winter 2020 may be familiar with this concept, although there are some differences. Players must craft "imp boxes" at home which are used to catch Winter imps that are roaming the F2P world. These imps give you Winter tokens and a 50% chance for Frozen beads. There is also a rare chance for Winter mystery boxes and Prize keys(Keep in mind, imp boxes and frozen beads from 2020 are not retroactive. Old items are marked (old) or "antique" if you still have them in your bank) With the frozen beads, you can unlock different variants of the imp boxes, each having their own pros/cons The types of imp boxes are: Regular imp boxes This is the free / starter variant, and gives a balanced set of bonuses Swifty imp boxes This variant offers faster imp catching (higher success rate) but lower token rewards. Ideal for a focus on earning frozen beads! Tier 1: Costs 25 frozen beads to learn how to craft Tier 2: Costs 50 frozen beads Tier 3: Costs 100 frozen beads Looty imp boxes This variant offers slower catching (lower success rate) but higher token rewards. Ideal for a focus on earning winter tokens! Tier 1: Costs 25 frozen beads to learn how to craft Tier 2: Costs 50 frozen beads Tier 3: Costs 100 frozen beads Frosty imp boxes This variant gives the best of both worlds! Fast token earnings, and fast frozen bead collecting In order to learn how to craft Frosty imp boxes, you must first unlock crafting Tier 3 for both Swifty and Looty imp boxes! Tier 1: Costs 50 frozen beads Tier 2: Costs 100 frozen beads Tier 3: Costs 150 frozen beads Snowman hunting There are three different types of snowmen roaming the F2P world: Warrior (melee), Archer (range), and Mages In order to kill these snowmen, you must fight them with one of three different ice weapons, respective to their weakness You'll be given an indicator in-game, but for reference follow the combat triangle: Warrior (melee) snowmen are vulnerable to your Ice wand Archer (range) snowmen are vulnerable to your Ice blade Mage snowmen are vulnerable to your Ice bow Each of these weapons can be received for free at Tier 1 by speaking to the Winter Hunter at home. But, you can upgrade each weapon up to Tier 3 by obtaining Snowglobes Warrior snowmen drop Red snowglobes which can be used to upgrade the Ice blade Archer snowmen drop Green snowglobes which can be used to upgrade the Ice bow Mage snowmen drop Blue snowglobes which can be used to upgrade the Ice wand Once you fully upgrade all three weapons, you can purchase a Snowball launcher The launcher costs 100 of each snowglobe (red/green/blue), and can attack on any type of snowman. It is by far the most powerful and fast-hitting event weapon. There is also a chance for you to encounter a Superior snowman (1/500) after killing a snowman This superior variant drops a much higher amount of tokens, and a guarantee of each colored snowglobe Winter crusher Once you have everything unlocked (learned to craft Frosty imp box T3, purchased the Snowball launcher) you can then purchase the Winter crusher The crusher costs 100 of each snow globe, as well as 150 frozen beads. It will allow you to crush snowglobes and frozen beads into winter event tokens, without any hourly limit Cycle Activities We've brought back the old cycle activity system, and incorporated the idea of last event's "activity scrolls" to merge with it! By default, just like most events, every 30-60 mins a random activity will enter the "spotlight" where players can earn tokens Raids Slayer Bossing Dragons Skilling tasks Nardah minigame Magic / Cursed trees Impling hunting Barrows minigame Elite barrows is included, which gives more tokens! But, in the event coin shop you can purchase an Event activity scroll which will boost your select activity with the following: +50% tokens earned from that activity 2X higher cap from that activity Wilderness chests Every hour, a winter loot chest will spawn in a random wilderness location. The first five players to loot it will receive 750-1000 winter tokens, 1-5 frozen beads, and 1-5 snowglobes of each color Keep in mind, this winter chest does not have a minimap icon, so keep your eyes peeled on the game world! Miscellaneous This event also includes our standard activities as well: World boss every 4 hours (The Icelord) Event keys & task scrolls Money making tasks Patch Notes Removed nardah restrictions for GIM (being able to co-op with people who are outside your group) Fixed a bug in Elite barrows where a partner who dies (but gets the kill credit(s) on the final wave) nullifies the chest spawn for the surviving partner Fixed guthan's overheal occurring even without the elite guthan spear Added protection value for Draconic claws Penumbric demon pet effect no longer works on typeless damage, cannon damage, poison damage, or venom damage Fixed the nardah imp notification being filtered on game chat Fixed a bug that allowed you to keep your totem after killing Galvanic boss Fixed multiple bugs where you could damage prosperity cavern monsters outside of the intended methods Fixed the bugged message when fighting sea slugs Fixed a typo in the Amethyst exchange (amethyst boots) Fixed heroes of value giving regular mystery tickets instead of untradeable ones
