The Conservationist

Recommended Posts

Introduction

Hello everyone, one of the content ideas that the development team is eager to hear about is 'slayer alternative' content, the general idea being content with a similar draw as slayer, but that would be an alternative, rather than something you can do with slayer.

Slayer itself is very central to RSPS and Runescape as a whole, a server without a good slayer system is one destine to fail, and a server that takes slayer and makes it better will thrive. Runex has a great slayer system, and it's about time we take the next step away from the usual content you'll find on a RSPS.

So I present to you, The Conservationist, the antithesis to slayer.

The conservationist will work similar to a slayer master, where he will assign you tasks of monsters to either cull or capture, but unlike a slayer task, these tasks will be open ended, giving players more choice.

An example would be a task to conserve 127 dragons. Which allows the player to conserve any dragon in the game to progress their task. Tasks may also be assigned to a specific area, such as Cull 89 monsters in the Karuulm dungeon.

These tasks will be broken up into the two forms as stated above;
Conservation: Where players are tasked with capturing the souls of their task, and have a rare chance to obtain a perfect soul.
Culling: Where players are tasked with culling an overpopulation of monsters, giving the player a rare chance to obtain conservationist urns.

Conservationists' Dungeon

The Conservationist will also have his own dungeon, which will house unique variations of common slayer monsters, and even mixtures of various kinds.

These special NPCs would generally be a combination between multiple slayer creatures, such as an abyssal dark beast.

Players can only kill the NPCs in this dungeon while on a special task, rarely granted by the Conservationist, or by an assignment scroll obtained from conservationist urns.

Drops from these unique NPCs would be decided at a later date, but they would be highly rewarding.

Conservation Urns

The urns would require players to do X amount of conservation tasks, as well as a secondary task to kill a boss X amount of times.

These urns would award;
- Special task scrolls: Tradable and assigns the players a random special conservation assignment.
- Conservation Blessing: Tradable and provides increased chance to obtain conservation urns/perfect souls, as well as a chance to not consume conservationist marks.
- Conservationist marks: Untradable and provides 25% drop rate increase and 5% double drop chance while on a conservationist assignment, includes special assignments.

Perfect Souls

Perfect souls can be added to your very own conservationist dungeon and can be killed on and off task, though any rare rewards would be substantially rarer, or non existent off-task.

The personal conservationist dungeon will be private, and contain a variety of rooms for players to place their perfect souls in. These rooms would be multi combat and cannonable.

This would be a very similar system to the RS3 personal slayer dungeon: https://runescape.wiki/w/Sunken_Pyramid

Perfect souls will come in 2 different forms (Both untradable);

- Special souls: Obtained from special NPCs inside of the conservationist dungeon, and

- Regular souls: Obtained from everything else. Regular souls can be combined to create a variety of special souls.

Restrictions:

- Conservationist tasks can not be completed in tandem with a slayer task, slayer tasks will take priority.
- Slayer task boosts will not work with conservationist tasks, I.E slayer helmet, emblems, bracelets.
- Luck tokens will not work on special assignments.

Crossover:

- The personal conservationist dungeon can be used to complete slayer task assignments If the NPC matches your slayer task. Though as stated above, slayer and conservation tasks can't be done in tandem, so slaying in the personal dungeon would prevent any special conservation task drops/urn progress.

Conservation isn't meant to compete with slayer, but it will offer a fresh alternative, unique rewards and a great end-game dungeon that can be utilised to cannon/multi a variety of slayer/conservation tasks that can't be done normally.

All feedback is heavily appreciated, this idea hasn't been discussed in the suggestion squad yet, but it will be, so get your thoughts in!
Also, if you have any slayer alternate suggestions, please post them for us!

Catch you all next time.
