[September 17th] Nightmare Boss, New wildy bosses, and TONS more!

The Nightmare Boss

  • The Nightmare has entered Runex, debuting as the server's most dangerous challenging boss to date!
    • Join the action by teleporting to "The Nightmare" lobby (page two of boss teleports)
       
  • When you kill The Nightmare with a group, every player who survived the entire fight and dealt 250+ damage will receive a drop!
  • Not only does it include new exclusive drops, but you are also granted the option of multiple different modes!

    • Global: An entirely public instance, with a capacity of up to 50 players at once! This version of Nightmare has slightly more rarity in its drop rates. You can only join when The Nightmare is sleeping and waiting to wake up for the next fight (3 minute timer)
       
    • Party: Create or join a private party to fight The Nightmare with up to 4 friends (5 total players). A great feature with party mode is that you can skip the 3 minute wait timer by waking up The Nightmare!
       
    • Night Terror (hardcore): A more challenging version of Nightmare, unlocked after 100+ Nightmare kills. Includes better drop rates, and some exclusive rewards! The Night Terror works in the form of party mode (1-5 players max, etc.)
       
  • Death Penalties
    • This boss is not meant to be easy! If you die in Global or Party mode, your items will be held in a "death coffer" and will cost quite a bit of gold to get them back! (Before entering, you will be told how much your setup would cost to recover if you died, and you'll be asked to confirm & agree to the risk)

    • If you die in Night Terror mode, everything except your most valuable item is lost forever! Untradeable/autokeep items are held in the coffer though, for 2X the usual cost to redeem
       
    • New to the boss and afraid of the consequences? There's a Practice mode under the Global category where you can fight The Nightmare boss without a death penalty but you will not receive loot or killcount
       
  • Exclusive Rewards
    • Inquisitor armor
      • Each piece boosts damage against The Nightmare and Night Terror by +7.5%. Includes a full set effect, which grants +10% damage and accuracy with maces, bludgeons, hammers, and mauls.
         
    • Inquisitor mace
      • Special attack deals heavy damage and heals you for 50% of the damage dealt
         
    • Inquisitor blessing
      • Exclusively obtained from The Night Terror. Increases mace, maul, bludgeon and hammer accuracy by +10% and damage by +10%
         
    • Eldritch orb
      • Attaches to the Nightmare staff to create the Eldritch staff
      • Special attack costs 75% and steals the foes prayer. In PvM it has a 1/5 chance to restore your prayer by 10% of the damage dealt!
         
    • Harmonised orb
      • Attaches to the Nightmare staff to create the Harmonised staff
      • Increases attack speed by +1 but reduces damage by 15% for the Modern spellbook
         
    • Volatile orb
      • Attaches to the Nightmare staff to create the Volatile staff
      • Special attack costs 50% and deals devastating damage. In PvM it has a 1/5 chance to deal an extra +65% damage critical hit!
         
    • Terror orb
      • Exclusively obtained from The Night Terror.
      • Attaches to the Nightmare staff to create the Terror staff
      • Much stronger stats than the normal nightmare staff.
      • Special attack costs 50% and deals heavy damage.
      • Special attack also restores your hitpoints and drains your enemy's defence

New Wilderness Bosses

  • Scorpia
    • This new wilderness boss also includes an exclusive drop!
    • Scorpia collection log and achievements added!
       
    • Scorpia chitin
      • Attaches to an uncharged Toxic blowpipe to create a Scorpia blowpipe
      • The Scorpia blowpipe does not require zulrah scale charges or darts

  • Crazy Archaeologist
    • This new wilderness boss also includes an exclusive drop!
    • Crazy arch collection log added and achievements added!
       
    • Archaeologist's tome:
      • Grants +5% drop rate bonus from wildy PvM and rogue's chest
      • Earn +5% more experience while in the wilderness

Boss "weakness" system

  • Bosses now given weaknesses in which they are more susceptible from damage from specific styles.
  • This promotes gear diversity at bosses and gives new utility to certain gears & weaponry that previously didn't exist.

Drop rate bonus system overhaul

  • Explanation of our old system: 

    • Before this update, there was a lot of confusion and criticism with the way our "drop rate bonus" system worked

    • Originally our system worked on an "additive" system, which would mean if you had a 50% drop rate bonus, a 1/100 drop rate would turn into 1/50.
      But, it didn't actually work like this in many cases. Because of all the drop rate bonus stacks added from updates over the years, restrictions were added which caused a lot of confusion:

    • Drop rate cap at 90% (anything at 100%+ would cause a "guarantee drop" so we had to restrict this possibility).
      A rather disorganized / confusing "curve system" which would result in diminishing returns after 50%+ drop rate bonus. This was added to prevent too many items entering the game, but this sloppy solution caused confusion. Drop rate bonuses didn't feel like they were helping the way they should, leading to a lot of confusion for players. This is a big reason why we decided to overhaul the bonus system entirely (see below)..

  • The good news (overhaul):

    • We've now changed to a multiplicative system, which not only frees up room for more new content w/ drop rate bonuses (without harsh detriment to the eco), but also allows for a much more transparent system that can be easily understood by players!

  • How to calculate your bonus under the new system: 

    • You will notice that your bonus in the equipment screen is now over 100% (this is because 100% = default / no bonus, rather than 0%)

    • Here's how you can calculate how it effects your drop rates:
      Example: If a drop chance is 1/500 and your drop rate bonus is 175%..
      500 / 1.75 = 285.7 = 286 (rounded up)
      New drop rate: 1/286

  • Note: Drop rate bonuses for most items in game have been scaled up, in order to better suite this new system
    Note: Drop rate bonuses only apply for drops that are rare+ (1/50 chance or up)

  • You can now view your drop rate bonus (includes most passive boosts like luck horns as well)

Enchantment Chest Additions

  • The enchantment chest's interface has been given a great overhaul!
    • Enchantments are now categorized, and can also be individually searched for more convenient navigation

  • Imbuing crystal
    • Costs an imbuing stone, with a 10% success chance!
    • This crystal is used as an ingredient for the highest tier enchantments
       
  • Fused serpentine helmet
    • Deal +20% damage against slayer tasks
    • Deal +5% damage against all monsters
    • Includes viper helmet bonuses and effect
    • Costs: (100% chance)
      • Fused slayer helmet
      • Viper helmet
      • Magma helmet
      • Tanzanite helmet
      • An imbuing crystal
         
  • Crestcloth (Ancrestral)
    • Attach to Ancestral robe pieces to create Ancrestral robes, that gives +7.5% damage against all monsters!

Gameplay changes:

  • Twisted ancestral orn kit added to Xeric raid rare rewards
    • Add kit to pieces to upgrade them. 
    • Upgraded pieces receive a new "Twisted" theme color & have slightly stronger stats than the originals. 
    • They also have slightly higher Rune coin values.
  • Brimstone weaponry damage boost lowered from 33% to 25%
  • Karamja gloves all scaled down to a 2.5%, 5%, 7.5% bonuses for K1, K2, K3
    • However, the Sunspear, Dark sunspear & Elder zammy spear will receive a 15% bonus when used in conjunction with K3s.
  • Revenant weaponry damage boost upgraded from +60% in wildy to +66%
  • Shayzien given a set boost of +5% damage when wearing full set
  • Gambling now requires at least 50 achievements completed in order to gamble.
  • Timed slayer tasks now give more time for monsters with higher hitpoints. (For both Wildy & Barbarian tasks)
  • Slayer urns added for 250 slayer points each. Requires 500 task kills to open. 
  • Void slayer scroll bonus changed to 4% from 20% but now useable up to 5 times & tradeable
  • Corpethereal beast pet damage potential reduced by 20%. Max hit still the same, just has 20% less likelihood to reach it.
  • Corpethereal beast pet healing potential reduced by 50%
  • Galvek pet activation chance doubled.
    • Attack damage increased by +10 and now lowers enemy def by 20% of damage.
  • Sniper hawk & Occulus owl pets added to Epic pet mystery box.
    • Sniper hawk gives +5% ranged damage bonus
    • Occulus owl gives +10% ranged accuracy bonus
  • Brimstone key minimum rate changed from 1/32 to 1/40 but also higher HP monsters give better rates than before.
  • Brimstone scroll added as rare loot from Brimstone chest. Gives +20% brimstone key drop rate permanently.
  • Also reduces minimum Brimstone key rate back down to 1/32 after scroll consumed.
  • Collection pendants added to Collection log shop. They give drop rate & exp rate boosts.
  • Slayer staff (e) magic % raised from 5% to 10%.
  • Slayer staff (e) slayer dart max hit boost raised from +10 to +15
  • Sarachnis cudgel special attack accuracy lowered by 50%
  • Vorpal staff spec max capped at 20 per hit.
  • Vorpal staff autocast max hit increased by +5 for each element. 
  • Vorpal staff special attack cost lowered from 75% to 50%.
  • Blood amulet of fury given a new bonus of +7.5% damage against undead enemies
  • Dragon hunter crossbow damage boost against dragons increased from +15% to +25%.
  • Ranged prayer in PvP now reduces damage by 50% instead of 40%.
  • Grandmaster task bottle formula changed to 10x Task bottle, 5x Master task bottle & 1k Rune coins for 40% chance
  • Blood chinchompa enchantment cost of 50 blood diamonds reduced to 25
  • Revenant rare drop table rates now much easier than before making them extremely profitable
  • King lava dragon drop table buffed. Chance to drop bag of riches, epic lava key & grand crest.
  • Crystal keys, Larrans keys & other 'autobankables' no longer autobank in wilderness. (Drops to floor instead.)
  • Philosophous hydra hitpoints increased from 500 to 1100.
  • Nitronuclear smoke devil now has 1/4 chance to hit with ranged attack.
  • Colossal cerberus now has +10 higher max hit.
  • All superior slayer bosses defenses raised by 20%.
  • Lava dragons & King lava dragon now have chance to use "Lavafire" attack like Rune dragons.

Quality of Life (QoLs):

  • Solo GIMs (GIMs who've been kicked / left their group) can now raid with any other player
  • Increased the death protection value of Scythe of Vitur
  • Added a +5% rate boost for raid reward chest via luck modifiers
  • Lowered hitpoints for healing spiders in solo Master & Grandmaster for ToB maiden room
  • Negative magic attack bonuses now more noticeably act as detriment to magic accuracy.
  • Vespine shortbow special attack tells how much defence is lowered from enemy.
  • Removed deadly red spiders in lever room to enter KBD lair
  • GIM armor storeable in PoH storage
  • Solar & Lunar demon added to PoH Menagerie storage
  • Kharazi Jungle demon respawn timer reduced from 5 minutes to 3 minutes.
  • Magic formula improved drastically in PvP environment.
  • Fire surge capped at 60 in PvP. All other spells capped at 50 in PvP.
  • Regular lamps now noteable
  • Pouch packs added to Summoning store
  • Vyrewatches & Fiyr shades now considered "undead"
  • Ferocious gloves rune coin value increased from 1.5k to 3.5k
  • Ring of greed given 750 rune coin value
  • Brimstone ring (i) given 2.5k runecoin value
  • TokHaar-Kal given a 250 rune coin value
  • Storage/Hitpoints/Venom/Special/Stamina accessories given 150 Rune coin value
  • Holy/Vitality accessories given 200 Rune coin value
  • Prayer/Experience accessories given 250 Rune coin value
  • Infernal accessory (tradeable version) given 500 Rune coin value
  • Luck & Guardian accessories given 1000 Rune coin value
  • Master XP accessory given 1500 Rune coin value
  • Berserker accessory given 2500  Rune coin value
  • Master luck accessory given 7500 Rune coin value
  • Gloves of silence given 150 rune coin value
  • Lavafire shield given 2.5k rune coin value

Integrity changes:

  • De-aggro system (Anti-AFK)
    • If you stay in the same region for over an hour, monsters will stop being aggressive toward you until you relog or leave the region & come back
    • You can still attack monsters and they will auto-retaliate (GWD minions will also retaliate if you attack one of them or the boss)
  • Magic sickness
    • When you receive magic sickness (30 seconds), you can not teleport or logout in the wilderness
    • Things that inflict magic sickness:
      • Purchasing items from the lava feather exchange
      • Opening Larran's chest
      • Opening Lava chest
      • Receiving a rare from Rogue's chest
  • Regeneration boss perk now has a 90 second cooldown between activations

Bug fixes:

  • Fixed a bug where the first attack on both monsters & players always followed up by an immediate 2nd hit
  • Fixed dyed brimstone hammer protection value
  • Fixed a bug where players could display certain colors and icons in ::yell chat
  • Fixed a bug that allowed some bosses to be safespotted in strange ways.
  • Ancient titans no longer receive extra damage from shayzien
  • Lunar void magic damage % bonus fixed
  • Cursed essence rock model fixed.
  • Fixed (deg) versions of zuriel, morrigan & statius
  • Blood diamonds fixed to be tradeable as they should have been
  • Wilderness pet effects no longer work in Kharazi.
  • Superior slayer monsters should no longer spawn in Kharazi.
  • Superior slayer monsters should no longer spawn off-task.
  • No longer able to cast spells at blowpipe speed while having blowpipe equipped
  • Giant mystery box global drops fixed and threshold lowered from 5% to 1%
  • Removed warrior icon above Kolodion npc
  • Vorpal staff no longer autocasts during special attack. This would lead to it hitting 6 times during spec instead of 4.
