  1. Vault of War (New Dungeon) The vault of war is a brand new, end-game slayer dungeon which can be unlocked by claiming a Vault dungeon scroll. In order to obtain this scroll, you must speak with the Librarian (located in Edgeville) to retrieve and complete the Vault of War: Book of Folklore quest. The quest requires 175 achievements completed in order to start. Introduction Once the quest is completed, you can access the vault through the Slayer teleports. Each monster within the dungeon is a demi-boss, stronger than the God's generals. You must slay them to earn vault keys, which have four different types. After collecting one of each key, you can spend them to open the Gate of War -- which summons the Riftwalker Beast boss for you to challenge. Dungeon souls Every monster you defeat in the vault will grant you Dungeon souls which can be used at the Soul Exchange. They can also be used to purchase Vault of War Perks which aid you within the zone. Things you can purchase within the soul exchange include: Alchemy shards A new stackable shard! While consuming potions, there is a 50% chance to consume an alchemy shard in your inventory instead Vault daily scroll Unlocks a task that can be repeated every 24 hours, which earns you alchemy shards and a mystery chest Vault keys (1-4) Vault icon (exclusive) Black Knight Captain Once you enter the Vault of War, you will notice the "Black Knight Captain" standing at the teleport location. He offers a variety of features including: Checking the "Vault of War" tasks Viewing and purchasing "Vault perks" Access to the Dungeon Soul Exchange Ravenous Hellhounds These hellhounds have the ability to attack with both melee and magic depending on your distance from them. Each of their attacks will smite you by 5 prayer points (which can be reduced by 50% with a spectral / intrinsic spectral spirit shield) They have no particular weaknesses. They also have an exclusive rare drop: Fang of the beast This is a special dagger which deals 2X damage in PvM combat (including its special attack, which is akin to a DDS) Enraged Abyssal Demons The attack of these demons will deal typeless damage and also have a 1/3 chance to inflict minor bleeding. They have a weakness to stab and magic attacks. They also have an exclusive rare drop: Abyssal gloves These gloves boost abyssal & darksire weapon damage and accuracy by +10% Brutal Mithril Dragons Brutal Mithril Dragons breathe the most dangerous dragonfire in RuneX! Even with the best antifire items and potions, you will always receive some degree of damage from their burn attacks. They have a weakness to stab and ranged attacks. They also have an exclusive rare drop: Draconic talon This talon can be attached to Avernic defender to craft an Avernic defender (i) Hell Demons These demons have a constant protection from melee, and use both melee and magic attacks. When attacking with magic, their spell will smite you for 1/4 of the damage dealt (which can be reduced via spectral / intrinsic spectral spirit shield) They have no particular weaknesses. They also have an exclusive rare drop: Hellflame page This page can be attached to a Tome of Fire (i) to craft a Tome of Hellfire Rift Walker Beast (boss) As stated in the introduction, it can be challenged by opening the Gate of War (costs one of each vault key) This boss switches actively between a standard ranged attack and a magic attack (which heals itself). In addition, the Riftwalker Beast will recoil 10% of the damage you deal toward it (capped at 4). It has a weakness to range and magic attacks. It has two exclusive rare drops: Riftwalker's sword: A sword as strong as a godsword, but as fast as a swift blade. It has a chance to restore prayer from damage dealt, and also penetrates through the Divine and Elysian spirit shield damage soak effect Riftwalker beast pet: Epic pet with a passive effect, granting +5% drop rate boost Chat Duels (New Minigame) Chat dueling is a quick & light-hearted minigame, which allows you to interact with players and earn rewards -- ideally while simultaneously doing other things! They are short 30-60 second text based battles with other players. You can participate anywhere, any time, without any requirements. The goal is to defeat opponents using various attack commands, and earn Chat Duel Points by winning matches. These points can be spent for chat duel upgrades (new weapon commands to use in duels) and in-game upgrades. Your shop has a limited stock, which resets every day. Chat duel weapon boxes (pictured above) permanently unlock new weapons/perks for chat duels. They may also be used on other players! For example you can purchase one on your main and use it on your ironman. There is a new Chat Duel channel in the chat area, which you can right-click for various options (entering main menu, shortcut to finding a match, etc). In addition, you can select the "Hide" option so that chat duel messages only display in the chat duel channel (rather than flooding the game channel) Alternatively, you can type ::cd or ::chatduel to access the main menu as well Patch Notes Skiller's blood orb no longer works inside of the PvP training grounds NPCs spawned by the utility summoner in the POH will now disappear when switching to build mode Fixed the "clear-summons" option from the summoner utility in POH Fixed donator elixir not doubling mythic tokens for mythic monster drops Fixed Blurite sword not being equippable for supreme accounts Fixed the ::vial command toggle (now actually disables) Fixed Fight caves achievements Fixed highlight colors for collection logs (some displayed as green even when incomplete) Fixed issue with red spotlight/glow for raid chests when receiving an affliction item Fixed Nex's KC tracking for achievements, etc. Fixed bug with superior wyrms not being attackable Fixed bug with wyrms having bugged animations (particularly from the legendary zone spawner
  2. NEW Prestige System The prestige system allows you to advance ("prestige") to the next game mode when your levels are maxed (all 99s), by resetting all of your levels and experience. It is also the only way to reach the new Heroic game mode. With that being said, it does come with some stipulations: You will lose access to all of your level-based unlocks until you regain your levels again. For example: Max Guild (and max dungeons), max capes, skill capes, etc. Achievements that require a certain skill level will be marked as incomplete until you regain them. This will cause you to no longer being able to wear items such as the Completionist Cape, until you re-complete those achievements. You may also lose access to content that requires a certain amount of achievements (only if it drops your total completed down below the requirement) Speak to the Wise Old Man at home if you'd like to get started! Heroic Mode Heroic mode is now the most challenging (and beneficial) mode on Runex, and can only be obtained by prestiging from Prime Mode. As voted on our discord community poll, the mode is symbolized with a cyan color. This mode also includes its own exclusive maxed 200m cape, with a hint of colors from the previous modes (NOTE: Like all other capes, this cape works with the empty cape tab!) Benefits: +15% Drop rate bonus +15% Chance for double drops Access to the Prestige perk tree Challenges: 1.0X experience rate (compared to Prime mode's 3.0x rate) 50% reduction to all experience boosts Overall experience boost is capped at +300% (after reduction) You can re-prestige an infinite number of times after you reach Heroic mode in order to receive Prestige points. You'll still remain on Heroic mode, but you will have an indicator for the amount of times you've re-prestiged on the Highscores (and through quick chat) Prestige Points (Perk Tree) Prestige points are only obtained by prestiging from Prime to Heroic (+5 points) or re-prestiging Heroic (+10 points). You can spend these points on the Prestige Perk Tree for various benefits (shown below) Cost of Prestiging Prestiging does has a cost, depending on your current mode: Normal -> Hard FREE Hard -> Supreme FREE Supreme -> Prime FREE Prime -> Heroic 250 Rune Diamonds (-10 discount per 200M skill) 250,000 Runex Points (-10,000 discount per 200M skill) Heroic (re-prestige) 1,250 Rune Diamonds (-50 discount per 200M skill) 500,000 Runex Points (-20,000 per 200M skill) GIM Prestiging GIM groups can prestige as well, although with slightly different mechanics (leading up to Heroic) If the group is NOT Heroic mode yet, each member must meet the requirements (maxed stats) and then individually speak with the Wise old man to cast a vote for the entire group to prestige. Once all members have voted, all members must be online to commence the group prestige. After the GIM group becomes a Heroic mode group, members of the group can then re-prestige on their own accord. (No requirements from other group members necessary) Prestige Trophies The wise old man will also grant you a Prestige partyhat and trophy based on your amount of Heroic re-prestiges: 1st re-prestige: Tier I Partyhat & Trophy (Green) 3rd re-prestige: Tier II Partyhat & Trophy (Blue) 5th re-prestige: Tier III Partyhat & Trophy (Red) 7th re-prestige; Tier IV Partyhat & Trophy (Purple) (Open Beta) OpenGL / GPU Mode We are excited to finally release a public version of the GPU/OpenGL mode! For some background on why its beneficial and what it does: Traditionally, the game client only uses 1 core of your CPU to render the game (while most modern games today use your GPU / video card) As a result, performance was always bottlenecked, ESPECIALLY in modes like resizable / fullscreen. Benefits & features of this mode: This mode will pass over most of the "work" to your video card, which should grant a huge performance boost! Especially in resizable / fullscreen mode! The better your video card, the better the results! (Unlike before, where your video card would not make any difference) FPS can now be uncapped, which can provide a much more fluid feel for the game Features like anti-aliasing and antiostropic filtering improve the visuals! We have included our own particle system to the OpenGL renderer, which should also have some visual improvements compared to non-gpu OpenGL includes support for multiple colorblind correction modes! To use this feature, all you have to do is enter command ::gpu in-game! PLEASE READ: This feature is in OPEN BETA, meaning you may run into some bugs / issues along the way (and we'd really like you to report them!) For players on HCIM mode, please be mindful of this! Operating systems like Mac OSX may run into some issues. It also may not perform as well as it would on Windows, due to Apple no longer updating support for OpenGL (the client will use OpenCL as an alternative) Example of visual comparison Example of uncapped FPS In-game Highscores In light of the recent prestige update, highscores have been moved from our website to in-game. Simply type ::highscores or ::hs to view it! The total EXP for heroic mode players will include experience from their previous re-prestiges. For example, if a player re-prestiged Heroic with 200m in each skill, that 200m will carry over to their highscore. Exotic loot scrolls You can now purchase "Exotic loot scrolls" from the wandering merchant for the Chasmquaker and Night Terror boss! When these scrolls are claimed, you will unlock **Challenge mode only** drops in each respective boss's drop table. Exotic loot table (challenge mode only) Both: 1/8 chance for 1-5 Divine shards Night Terror: 1/500 chance for an Exorbitant orb Chasmquaker: 1/500 chance for an Exuberant orb Exuberant orbs (chasmquaker) can be used on ferocious gloves or devout boots to create Executioner boots/gloves Exorbitant orbs (night terror) can be used on inquisitor armor pieces (hauberk, legs, and helmet) to create Executioner armor pieces Executioner gear Each piece gives a +3% chance to perform an Execution melee attack, dealing 2X damage to monsters. Executioner armor also includes inquisitor effects. The effect will only be able to activate if.. You're using melee You're NOT using a scythe of vitur (or variant of it) New Enchantments Blessing of Artillery Combination of Blessing of Berserker and Blessing of Arnaments (20% chance) Blessing of the Rampart Combination of Blessing of Protection and Blessing of Fortitude (20% chance) Soothsayer pendant (i) Costs Soothsayer pendant and 150 Divine sahrds (20% chance) Gives +20% drop rate boost instead of +15% Mystery chest enchantment now costs 1,250 Rune coins and 10 Divine shards (rather than 2,500 Rune coins) Grandmaster Raids Entering a Grandmaster (GM) raid now only requires 500+ completed raids, rather than 1,000! Players who have already reached (or on the verge of reaching) 1,000+ completed raids will still be compensated! If you select the "Raid tasks" option when interacting with the Raids Portal, you will now see the following "Grand Challenge" Progress toward this task is retroactive, so those who are at 1k+ will automatically receive the reward upon opening this menu (and progress for players who have not yet reached it will count as well). NOTE: To clarify, the "voucher discount" reward is a permanent unlock and the Mystery tickets are the tradeable variant (not the untradeable variant!) Crestbearer Dyes You can now receive Dark crestbearer dye and Light crestbearer dye from the Exotic mystery box (Exotic mystery boxes are purchased from the Wandering Merchant's shop) QoLs and Gameplay Changes Collection logs will now display with green text when they're completed (and yellow when "in-progress") You can now type ::purple to see the amount of affliction raids until next guaranteed purple Affliction items will now show a red spotlight (rather than purple) on the reward chest (but it still counts as a purple for tasks etc.) Energy affliction now occurs every 30 seconds rather than 15 seconds Spec raid modifier spec reduction changed from -15% to 10%. Superior changed from -25% to -20%.   4. Item rarity color tags In-game items now have a "rarity color", which by default are set by their rune coin exchange values. We have given most valuables without an RC value a rarity color manually (or items that have RC values far below their market value) The rarities are as follows: Common Uncommon (10-99 RC) Rare (100-999 RC) Legendary (1000-4999 RC) Exotic (5000+ RC) Ground item name colors will now draw from this system to keep things consistent. In addition, items will also appear with this color in all interfaces (except for chat messages, etc.) Note: This feature can be toggled off/on via the settings tab Loot beams With the aforementioned item rarity tag system, we have added loot beams which glow with a color respective to the rarity color! In order to allow players with auto-loot looting bags to experience this update, looting bags will now have a visual delay before picking the item up (similar to "telegrab"). You can also pick which loot beams to hide/show for each rarity color by typing ::lootbeams in game! There are also new "Loot celebrations" (completely separate from the loot beam system) which are available for purchase as unlock scrolls in the Rune Diamond Shop!   8. Spring Event 2022 Easter imp hunting Hunt easter imps that are roaming around F2P areas & the entire wilderness! Imps drop a sub-currency, Easter eggs, which can be used to purchase weapon upgrades & event hunting trinkets! There's also a rare chance to find Gilded eggs roaming in both zones, which give an immediate token and egg reward! There are common, uncommon, and rare imps (each having respectively better drop tables) In addition to this, imps have a very rare chance to summon a Superior variant on death for much bigger loot! The benefit of wilderness imps is that bringing a blood orb will increase the chance of encountering superiors! The better the blood orb, the higher the superior chance increases Boss spotlight Every event will include a boss spotlight where a random in-game boss will turn into a Seasonal variant This season, the Easter Terror will be taking place of the Night Terror The Easter Terror functions just like the Night Terror, but also has a chance to drop bonus seasonal mystery boxes & chests Cycled activities As usual, every 1-2 hours an activity is spotlighted for token earnings (type ::cycle in-game for more info) Event bosses The global boss, Easter kalphite spawns every 4 hours in the event boss lair In addition, a wilderness demi-boss Big chungus will spawn every 2 hours in a random wildy location! (The location is revealed on the server news broadcast) Event keys As per usual, Crystal/Lava/Brimstone/Larran keys & Task scroll caskets are obtained as special event variants, granting event tokens on usage Money making activities You can earn tokens from ALL money making activity taks Wagering The wager NPC at ::gamble will now accept Spring Token bids during the event! Event pet enchantment For the top event hunters, the easter kalphite pet can be enchanted to an Easter queen kalphite pet This pet has the same effects to the 2020 Easter king dragon pet: Acts as an efficiency blessing (doesn't stack) Grants infinite run energy Receive +25% tokens for all Spring events The enchantment has a 20% success chance rather than 10% due to the shorter duration of this event (compared to 2020) Nonetheless, it's not expected for every player to be able to enchant this; it's a very rare pet!   9. NEW Nex Boss Nex has entered Runex! In order to join the battle you must.. Have Elite GWD unlocked Teleport to the Nex lobby via "Boss teleports" At the lobby, you will notice a portal entrance. It will be "purple" if the global Nex has not spawned yet, and "red" if there is currently a session (you must wait until players in the arena kill Nex) Modes There are two different modes of Nex: Global: Up to 75 players, can only join while Nex is dead / respawning (1 min 30 second timer) Private: Up to 10 players, can be soloed or friends can join. But it has requirements! Must have the Book of Divine fully completed and 50+ Global Nex kills to unlock this mode Spend 3x Nihil dust in order to create/join a private instance (dropped only by Global Nex) As long as people in your friends list meet these requirements, they can enter your name to join your private instance! As a private instance owner, you can fully manage the spawn orb and add/reduce time, or just skip to the start. In addition, we've taken into account a few things such as: players leeching (not putting effort in the group), high-performing players not being rewarded enough at global instances, etc. As a result, we've put together two separate drop systems for Nex depending on the criteria of the fight Competitive Drop Mode This drop mode is picked in a global instance with 4+ players, or a full private instance (10 players) Unique drops from nex requires the player to be within 75% top damage dealer to follow the correct drop rate on Nex's droptable. If the player is not within the 75% top damage dealer the unique rares are doubled in their rarity (1/400 is now 1/800) Top 10% damage dealers get a +25% drop rate bonus MVP (#1 damage dealer) gets a +35% drop rate bonus (does not stack with top 10%) Normal Drop Mode Boss drops as normal bosses do. This mode is picked in global instances with 1-3 players, or a private instances that is not full (1-9 players) Depending on the size of the group, MVP bonuses may still apply. Phases Nex has five different phases, each (except the last) associating with one of her bodyguards located in each corner. Once Nex reaches below (80%/60%/40%/20% HP) she will call the respective bodyguard's name and will no longer take damage until the bodyguard is killed We recommend reading / watching guides on this boss as they are actually very similar to RuneX's. A few things to note that are somewhat custom: Prayer drain from all of Nex's smite attacks are reduced by 1/2 if you're using a Spectral spirit shield (including intrinsic ofc) Nex has some resistance against melee and magic. She is weak to ranged, and has additional weakness against crossbows! She does not have an "embrace darkness" special in the Shadow Phase (#2). Instead, your protection players will be less effective the closer you are to her during that phase Ice prison during the Ice Phase (#4) can not be broken by the player in it, unless you are soloing it. You must be wielding a crush weapon - and the higher the bonus, the higher the icebreaking chance! Elite God Wars Elite GWD plays an integral part in the new rewards from Nex, as many require Elite god components to craft. Additionally, you can use this armor to craft the newest BiS melee set.. Smelting a full torva set (each piece required) at the Ancient Forge will give you x10 Torva components. These components can be used on Crestbearer armor to upgrade it into Cr. Torva. Nex pet (epic) The pet of Nex is an epic pet with a special effect: "Blessing of Zaros" Ancient spells deal +10% damage Boosts curse prayers by +7.5% (stacks with amulet of zealot) Rune diamonds There is a new currency that has entered the game, Rune Diamonds! Speak with the Mystical spirit by the RC exchanger to fuse them! One rune diamond costs x100 Rune coins and x1 Mystery shard to fuse. The rune diamond shop includes a variety of items, mostly cosmetic but some practical! Puppy mini-pets (mini-pets are a new form of pet, that follow your actual pet) Lucky fairy mini-pet (boosts drop rate by +5%) Has a very pricey enchantment to GIlded fairy mini-pet, which provides +15% drop rate bonus instead! Yell tag scroll Allows you to set a custom yell tag to appear before your name in yell chat Yell color scroll Allows you to modify the color and shade of your yell chat (and yell tag if you have one) Title scroll Allows you to set a custom title before or after your name in public chat. Also appears when players right-click you, etc. Blank halo/cape/phat tabs Use on any halo/cape/phat of your choosing on the tab. When activated, any helmet/cape/hat worn will appear as the chosen item Superior slayer pets The following superior slayer monsters have been given pets at a 1/100 chance: Superior wyrm Superior drake Superior wyvern Superior demonic gorilla Bonuses for existing content!   11. Winter Event 2021 You guys asked, and we listened. We've gone back to the original format of F2P mobs, but added more layers of progression than ever before! There are two different types of mob hunting during this event: Imp hunting and Snowmen hunting Imp Hunting Those of you who played RuneX during Winter 2020 may be familiar with this concept, although there are some differences. Players must craft "imp boxes" at home which are used to catch Winter imps that are roaming the F2P world. These imps give you Winter tokens and a 50% chance for Frozen beads. It will allow you to crush snowglobes and frozen beads into winter event tokens, without any hourly limit Cycle Activities We've brought back the old cycle activity system, and incorporated the idea of last event's "activity scrolls" to merge with it!
